Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Reality Inc. (“we,” “us”) handles information when you use Halo, our voice-to-text application for Windows, and the superhalo.io website (together, the “Service”). We designed Halo so that the most sensitive data involved — your voice and your words — never reaches us at all.

The short version: audio and transcripts are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded. The only personal information we handle is what is needed to sell you the app and support you.

Scope of This Policy

This policy covers the Halo app and the superhalo.io website. It does not cover third-party services we link to or that you use alongside Halo (for example, the applications you dictate into). Those services have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Information We Collect

We do not collect audio recordings, transcripts, or any content you dictate. What we do handle:

  • Audio. Voice input is captured by the app while you dictate, processed entirely on your device, and discarded after transcription. It is never uploaded to us or to any third party.
  • Transcripts. The text produced from your speech exists only on your device. Halo has no cloud component and we never receive it. Any local dictation history is stored on your device and removed when you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Purchase data. When you buy Halo, checkout is handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. We receive the information needed to issue and support your license — such as your email address, order details, billing country, and license/activation status. We never see your full card number.
  • Device activations. To enforce the two-device activation limit, activating Halo associates an anonymized device identifier with your activation code. This identifier cannot be used to read anything on your device.
  • Support communications. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you and improve support.
  • Usage and diagnostic data. The app does not track or log your activity and sends no usage analytics or content telemetry. If we ever add crash reporting, it will be disclosed here first and will never include audio or transcripts.

Our Processing Guarantees

Three commitments that define how Halo is built:

  • No training. Your audio and transcripts are never used to train models — ours or anyone else’s. We never receive them.
  • No server retention. We operate no servers that store your dictation content, so there is nothing for us to retain, leak, or hand over.
  • Advance notice. If any of these guarantees ever changes, we will announce it prominently before the change takes effect — never retroactively.

How We Use Information

Speech-to-text conversion happens entirely on your device and involves no information reaching us. The purchase and support information we do handle is used only to deliver your activation code, verify and support your license (including the two-device activation limit), process payments and refunds through Paddle, comply with tax and accounting obligations, and respond when you contact us.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and your audio and transcripts never leave your device, so they cannot be shared with anyone. Purchase data is processed by Paddle as merchant of record under its own privacy policy. Beyond that, we share information only with service providers that help us run the business (such as email delivery for activation codes and support), and where the law requires it.

Data Retention

Content on your device (transcripts, history, settings) is under your control: it stays until you delete it or uninstall the app, and we never have a copy. Purchase and license records are kept for as long as your license is active and thereafter as long as tax, accounting, and other legal obligations require. Support correspondence is kept no longer than necessary to handle your request and improve support. We do not keep data we have no continuing need for.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because dictation content never reaches us, these rights in practice concern purchase, license, and support data. To exercise them, email hello@superhalo.io; we will respond within the timelines required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data Security

Local processing removes the biggest risk: your dictation content is never transmitted, so it cannot be intercepted in transit or breached from our servers. Content stored on your device is protected by your operating system’s security and any disk encryption you use. Purchase data is protected by Paddle’s PCI-compliant infrastructure, and the license information we hold is protected by access controls and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but our architecture keeps what matters most off the network entirely.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Data Transfers

Your dictation content never crosses a border because it never leaves your device. Purchase data is processed by Paddle and our service providers, which may store it in countries other than yours; where that involves transfers out of the EEA or UK, they rely on recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions and standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

The superhalo.io website does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The checkout, provided by Paddle, uses cookies strictly necessary to process your payment. The app itself uses no cookies or similar tracking technologies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the current version. Changes to the processing guarantees in this policy will be announced with advance notice before they take effect; other material changes will be notified through the Service or by other reasonable means.
