Halo CLI
A command-line interface for dictating and transcribing without leaving the terminal.
Example session — not a live terminal
$ halo listen▌Listening… speak, then press ctrl+c to stopTranscribed 1 utterance in 1.8s$ halo transcribe standup-notes.wavTranscribing standup-notes.wav…Done — saved to standup-notes.txt$ halo transcribe call.mp3 --format srtTranscribing call.mp3…Done — saved to call.srt
The Halo CLI is still in development. This session is illustrative — it shows the workflow we're building toward, not a released tool.
Scriptable transcription
Pipe audio files through Halo as part of a build step, a note-taking script, or any pipeline you already run.
Multiple output formats
Plain text, timestamped transcripts, and subtitle formats, chosen with a flag.
Same engine as the desktop app
The CLI is meant to use the same transcription engine as Halo on Windows — no separate model to trust.
Coming soon
Installation isn't available yet
We'll publish install instructions here once the CLI ships. In the meantime, the desktop apps are tracked on the download page.
